Project Nursery: The To-Do List

Starting a new project (namely an entire room redo) is a stressful thing. There is lots to consider and make decisions on: furniture, paint colours, artwork, lighting, window treatments, etc. And when you start to write everything that needs to be completed down on paper, the list can become very overwhelming, very quickly. But a list is a must to stay focused (and on budget).

We're hoping to start the nursery this month (I'm not due until August, but this will allow lots of time to get it done). Plus, my amazing hubby will be doing most of the grunt work, so I don't want to burden him with too much in a short amount of time. And, I'll also be trying (key word here is trying) to get my home office completed before baby gets here too (since I know that once baby is here, I'll have very little time or energy to focus on any other room redos. Well, for a little bit that is...).

So, that being said, here's the breakdown of the to-do list for the nursery... (some of which has already been completed)

1. Choose a paint colour; paint room
2. Select and buy the crib
3. Install wall treatment (details to come later)
4. Redo existing dresser (details to come later)
5. Select and buy storage unit
6. Buy crib bedding
7. Select and buy rocking chair (or convert to a rocking chair)
8. Artwork and accessories
9. Buy lighting - overhead light, accent lights
10. Install lighting
11. Window treatments - select, buy, customize, and install
12. DIY accent table (details to come later)
13. Organize closet

So, there you have it. All these items need to be taken care of, plus the final installation of all of these as well. As you can imagine, it's a little overwhelming, but we have time (and a plan), so we'll get there (hopefully before baby's here).

We were using the room as a spare room before. But, all of our family lives in town, so it really was a wasted space.

I'll keep you posted as progress is made on this room. It will be a lengthy project, so please be patient :)

(P.S. Thanks for being patient with me and my lack of posts these past few months. I'm slowly starting to get back into the swing of things, and looking forward to posting regularly again!)
